Home to Boeing aircraft, Starbucks, the Space Needle and an outstanding arts scene, Seattle is the largest city of the USA’s Pacific Northwest region. Located in the state of Washington near the Puget Sound, Seattle is a coastal seaport city nicknamed the Emerald City due to its lush scenery resulting from a rainy climate.

Seattle’s most famous landmark is the towering Space Needle, which features an observation deck and revolving restaurant. The city has some odd landmarks as well such as America’s largest cowboy hat and boots, and the Fremont Troll, a giant troll constructed of concrete, wire and steel and resting beneath the Aurora Bridge. The largest tourist attraction, Pike Place, is one of America’s oldest farmer’s markets as well as the site of the city’s famous fish market and the first Starbuck’s Coffee Shop.

To learn about the city’s history, Pioneer Square and the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park offer historical buildings and artifacts. There are a number of art galleries and museums in Seattle exhibiting local history, science, art and Nordic heritage as well as rock and roll music. The birthplace of grunge music, Seattle also features a lively nightlife scene with a variety of pubs, nightclubs, dance clubs, theaters and opera houses.

Home to professional sports teams like the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners and Sounders, Seattle always has a ball game going on whether it be football, baseball or soccer. The Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Aquarium are outstanding places to encounter land and marine animals. At the Boeing Factory, tourists can watch airplanes being built. Urban parks and nature sanctuaries like Discovery Park and Green Lake offer hiking trails, outdoor adventure and wildlife. With close proximity to the mountains and ocean, Seattle tourists can enjoy hiking, snow skiing, sailing, kayaking and swimming.
