As media spread of Helen Thomas’ death Wednesday, politicians,journalists and fans paid homage for the trailblazing reporter who was a fixture with White House daily briefings for many years.
"Michelle and When i were saddened to learn of the transferring of Helen Jones. Helen was a true pioneer, opening doors and wearing down barriers for decades of women with journalism, " President Barack Obama said inside a statement.
"She never failed to keep presidents : myself included - on the toes. What made Helen the 'Dean in the White House Press Corps' has not been just along her tenure, but her fierce belief that our democracy works best once we ask tough queries and hold our leaders to bank account, " he additional.
Former President Invoice Clinton and Hillary Clinton said inside a statement that thomas was "a groundbreaking journalist" who additional "more than the woman shares of cracks for the glass ceiling. inch
